In the U.S. Department of State, the International Security Advisory Board (ISAB)[1] provides external advice of arms control, disarmament, international security and public diplomacy.

Paul Wolfowitz is the current Chair. It reports to the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security and delivers its reports to the Secretary of State. The Board currently has 19 members and is chartered to have up to 25. Board members are national security experts with scientific, military, diplomatic, and political backgrounds. The Board meets in a plenary session on a quarterly basis.[2]

  • Proliferation Implications of the Global Expansion of Civil Nuclear Power
  • Study on Discouraging a Cascade of Nuclear Weapons States
  • Study on Space Policy
  • Study on Building International Coalitions to Combat WMD Terrorism
  • Review of the 2002 National Strategy to Combat weapons of mass destruction
