Lebanon is a county and a city in south-central Pennsylvania with a population (2008 estimate) of 24,097. Lebanon is the former site of a steel mill operated by Bethlehem Steel. Lebanon County had been the site of iron production since the 18th century. The county is the home of Fort Indiantown Gap, the headquarters of the Pennsylvania National Guard. The local economy is dominated by agriculture and light manufacturing. The city is also located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country and boasts a large Amish population.
