Mamoru Shigemetsu was the final Foreign Minister of Japan during World War Two in the Pacific, who signed the Instrument of Surrender. Generally considered opposed to the war, he still received a war crimes sentence from the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, but was rehabilitated and again was Foreign Minister in 1955.
