Meat encompasses animal parts. that are edible and useful as food , including muscle, skin, organs, connective tissue, and fat, and generally excludes bone, hair, and other hard parts. Carnivorous species, such as the domestic cat, cannot survive on a diet without meat, or possibly with artificial nutritional supplements. Omnivorous species do not require it, but often prefer it due to its high energy density.
