Messaging refers to the use of apps and software to send text or media via the internet in real-time, as well as the act of communicating via such platforms. Also known as instant messaging or simply chat, messaging services are the most popular apps installed on smartphones and are widely used for conversations and e-commerce. Examples include WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, WeChat and Viber.
