Metamorphoses (Ovid) [r]: An epic poem by the Roman writer Ovid which describes the history of the world from the earliest beginnings to the Roman Empire under the leadership of the tyrant Julius Caesar. It is written in a mythological format in the metric style of dactylic hexameter and completed in 8 AD, and was written in Latin and is important as a reference in Greek mythology. [e]
