Micronesia (Greek: mikros 'small' + nēsos 'island') is a region of Oceania in the western Pacific Ocean, comprising thousands of islands which are divided between five states and several US territories.
The five nations in Micronesia are: the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau and Nauru. The Northern Mariana Islands and Guam are major US territories.
