Attacks were planned at the new year of 2000 by al-Qaeda against the United States of America and elsewhere.[1] The confirmed attempt was by Ahmed Ressam, captured on the U.S. border with Canada when Customs officer Diana Dean observed him acting suspiciously, and carrying explosives for an attack on Los Angeles International Airport.[2] Investigations showed him to be associated with a support cell in Canada.
Ressam also had affiliations with the Armed Islamic Group of Algeria and Egyptian Islamic Jihad. This operation was part of additional al-Qaeda plans, including a Millennium Plot in Jordan.
