Part of the Executive Office of the President, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) assists in preparing the overall budget, and monitors the effectiveness of agencies' spending of those funds. It has overall responsibilities for drafting, issuing, and coordinating procurement, financial management, information, and regulatory policies, as well as the process of administrative management. OMB has oversight of the amount of administrative workload imposed on citizens by government action.

The Director is Peter Orszag.

OMB is divided into internal functions such as the general counsel, statutory offices for government initiatives, and five program-related directorates.
