The Firm is a studio album by The Firm (band)|the Firm, released by Atlantic Records on 11 February 1985.
Overview[edit]
Page's tone throughout is very reminiscent of the sound of his overdubs on Coda (album)|Coda, as well as the sound he would subsequently employ on 1988's Outrider. Opening track 'Closer' uses a subtle horn section to good effect, while 'Someone to Love' represents all the elements of the band in one number. Rodgers' 'Radioactive' was a hit for the band, topping the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for one week. The album's highlight is 'Satisfaction Guaranteed,' a mid-tempo rocker with a weaving and exotic Page riff and a heartfelt vocal performance by Rodgers. Other tracks ranged from the epic 'Midnight Moonlight' based on a previously unreleased song by Led Zeppelin called 'Swan Song (Led Zeppelin song)|Swan Song', first tinkered with during the Physical Graffiti sessions, to the retro-hippy themes of 'Someone to Love'. The cover version of 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' featured lead vocals by Paul Rodgers of Bad Company fame, but was never released as a single. The Firm peaked at #17 on the Billboard Music Charts|Billboard's Billboard 200 chart, and reached #15 on the UK Album Chart.
