Third United States Army is currently the U.S. Army component of United States Central Command CENTCOM, called ARCENT. Formally, its headquarters are at Fort McPherson, Georgia (U.S. state)|Georgia and it has forward command elements in the CENTCOM theater of operations, the Middle East. CENTCOM Forward is in Qatar.

History[edit]

It went into operations following the Battle of Normandy, as a breakout and exploitation force under GEN George Patton.
