The United Iraqi Alliance is an Islamic Iraqi political coalition, principally composed of the two major Shi'a party, the Islamic Dawa Party under Ibrahim al-Jaafari and Abd al-Aziz Hakim's Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). In the December 2005 election, it was joined by factions led by the radical Shi'a leader, Muqtada al-Sadr.

Nevertheless, it was ten seats short of a parliamentary majority; it had held a narrow coalition in the January election. It may have failed because it was not endorsed by Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the most powerful Shi'a cleric in Iraq. Its earlier governance was also criticized as inefficient.
