United States Forces Korea (USFK) is a unified sub-command of U.S. Pacific Command, with responsibility for all U.S. forces in the Republic of Korea. The four-star USFK commander is "triple hatted" with the Eighth United States Army, USFK, and United Nations command. The role is evolving, and, by 2012, the U.S. force will be in support to ROK forces rather than the senior headquarters. Its major components are:
