The Washington Nationals are a Major League Baseball team based in Washington, D.C.. The team was founded in 1969 as the Montreal, Quebec Expos, an expansion team in the National League. Later, the team moved from Montreal to Washington before the start of the 2005 season. [1] [2] [3]

Championships[edit]

The team has had one championship-winning season since the beginning of major-league baseball's modern World Series in 1903, winning the World Series in 2019. This was also the only season that they were National League champions. [4]
