Zurich (German: Zürich) is the largest city in Switzerland.
It is commonly referred to as being the cultural and economic capital of the country, the political capital being Berne.
Zurich is host to many events, particularly during spring and summer. One notable annual event is Sechseläuten, a festival that sees the burning of an effigy of a snowman to celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring.
In 2009, Zurich hosted the annual Europride celebration by Europe's lesbian and gay communities.
