From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

The 2014 FIFA World Cup was an international Soccer tournament held in Brazil and won by Germany.[1]

Bidding contests for FIFA World Cups are extremely competitive. After South Africa was awarded the 2010 tournament, in 2007 Brazil was declared the 2014 host.

In order to host the tournament, Brazil has built seven new stadiums, and upgraded five others.

32 national teams competed in the 2014 World Cup. Brazil, as hosts, were guaranteed a spot. Each regional confederation ran a qualifying tournament to determine which of its member nations would attend the finals in Brazil.

Outcome[edit]

The 2014 World Cup saw two European and two South American teams in the first four places: it was won by Germany, with Argentina as runner-ups and the Netherlands in the third place. Brazil was ending up in the fourth place. Lionel Messi was proclaimed the best player of the competition; James Rodríguez was top-scorers, with 6 goals.
