A Streetcar Named Desire (1947) is one of the most well-known plays by American playwright Tennessee Williams. It is the story of Stanley and Stella Kowalski, a couple in New Orleans, at the time of the arrival of Stella's sister Blanche DuBois. The play depicts the conflict between Blanche and Stanley, and her eventual downfall into madness.[1] It was made into a film in 1951, starring Marlon Brando as Stanley and Vivien Leigh as Blanche.
