The term Academic Sources refers to a number of information sources that are subjected to some form of check for accuracy. Common examples include, but are not limited to the following:

The main idea behind academic sources is that there is a degree of accuracy and legitimacy which is not found in the following sources:

  • Most sites using a freely editable wiki system
  • Word-of-mouth
  • Google (However, Google Scholar provides an argument for the opposite)
