Alma Adams is the Democratic party representative from North Carolina's 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House. Adams was elected to the U.S. House in a special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Melvin Watt (D). She was sworn in on November 12, 2014, to complete the remaining seven weeks of Watt's term. Adams is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a sponsor of the socialist Medicare for All bill.
