Amarillo is a city in the counties of Potter and Randall in Texas, and has a population of 193,675 as of 2011.[1]

Amarillo's most prominent recent resident was the industrialist T. Boone Pickens who graduated from Amarillo High School and later served as chairman of the Potter County Republican Party. Rick Husband, commander of the Space Shuttle Challenger which disintegrated over east Texas, was also from Amarillo; the city airport (a former Air Force Base, with one of the longest commercial runways among airports) was renamed in his memory.
