Amish in West Virginia

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Amish in West Virginia have grown six-fold in the last 20 years, from 70 to 430, despite how the overall population in West Virginia declined in 2021. West Virginia lost a congressional seat in the 2020 census due to its lack of population increase compared with other states.

With the Amish community thriving based on farming, it is insulated against declines in the coal industry caused by radical environmentalists.

Locations[edit]

There are several Amish locations in West Virginia:[1]

  • near Letart in Mason County (founded in 1996)
  • Summers County, near Forest Hill (founded in 2006)

Altogether, there are roughly 200 Amish living in West Virginia. Despite neighboring heavily-Amish Ohio and Pennsylvania, few Amish have ever chosen to settle in the Mountain state. Amish-made furniture can be found in WV in a handful of locations.
