From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Benigno Aquino was a political opponent of the Philippines' President, Ferdinand E. Marcos. He was assassinated in 1983 after returning to the Philippines from the United States. Many in the United States blamed Marcos. This helped his widow, Corazon Aquino, gain the Presidency of the Philippines in 1986 after Marcos was forced to flee the country.
