Bermuda

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Bermuda is an archipelago of 138 islands and islets (of which 20 are inhabited) in the North Atlantic Ocean 570 miles east of Cape Hatteras in the United States. Bermuda is an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom with an area of 20 square miles (53 km2) and a population of 64,000. The capital is Hamilton.

The territory was colonised in 1609 by Sir George Somers who was shipwrecked there en route for Virginia. It was named after a Spanish seafarer, Juan Bermudez, who sighted it (but did not land) in the early sixteenth century.

The territory acquired internal self-government in 1968; a referendum of 1995 rejected independence.

In February 2018, Bermuda became the first jurisdiction to roll back the legalization of same-sex "marriage".[1][2][3]
