The British Medical Journal or BMJ is official journal of the British Medical Association (BMA). It is one of the oldest medical publications in the world having been first published in 1840.

The BMJ is one of the most widely read general medical journals in the world. It is studiously scientific with a strong emphasis on peer-reviewed, evidence-based medicine. It not only publishes original research and clinical reviews, but also news, editorial perspectives, personal views and career focus articles.
