Great Britain has contributed much to conservative principles and philosophy. These are some of the most important British conservatives, in the sense that readers of Conservapedia would understand as conservative. Note that the British Conservative Party is only moderately conservative, with a similar political viewpoint to that of RINOs in the USA. Though this is only true of social conservatism and even then Leaders like Thatcher and Churchill are considered Conservative in the true sense of the word. Conservatism differs somewhat in the US and the UK. In the UK, many 'conservatives' still support gun control and oppose the death penalty. Sone aspects of American conservatism would be considered left-wing in the UK - for instance, republicanism and opposition to the aristocracy.
