Burton upon Trent

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Burton upon Trent is a town in Staffordshire, England. The River Trent flows through the town, just to the east of the town centre. The oldest building in the town is the abbey. The town's railway station (named Burton-on-Trent and on the Birmingham to Derby line) serves East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.

Historically there were many breweries in the town, facilitated by high quality ground-water. Coors (previously Bass) and Marstons are the two remaining large breweries. Marmite is produced in Burton as a by-product of brewing. Branston Pickle is also produced in Burton.

Burton Albion Football Club play in the Blue Square Premier League (soccer).

Its population is 60,500 (2001).
