From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

The Carolina Hurricanes are a hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They moved to Raleigh in 1997, and were formerly the Hartford Whalers. The Hurricanes advanced to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in 2002 but lost to the Detroit Red Wings in five games. The franchise won their first and only Stanley Cup during the 2005-06 season, beating the Edmonton Oilers four games to three. They could not repeat this in 2006-07 and did not advance to the playoffs. The 'Canes, as they are sometimes known, play at the RBC Center.
