These are RINOs (short for Republican in name only). Many RINOs represent the character and interests of the districts/states in which most conservative Republicans don't have enough appeal to become elected. They claim to be part of the Republican Party, but are often supportive of liberal policies in line with the Democratic Party or, to some extent, libertarianism.
