Cicada

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Cicadas are large insects that spend most of their lives underground. Cicadas are known for their loud mating calls.

Behavior[edit]

Cicadas tend to congregate (but act independently) in certain areas that contain many sap-yielding deciduous trees. In the summer their mating season begins, and they start to emit loud mating calls. Cicadas are known to come in "plagues" at set intervals (cicadas remain underground for over a decade).
