Clue (board game)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 2 min

Clue (Cluedo in Britain and abroad) is a detective board game made by Parker Brothers, a division of Hasbro.

How to Play[edit]

The object of the game is to correctly suggest and prove, through elimination, who murdered Mr. Boddy (Dr. Black in Britain), with which weapon, and in which room.

Up to six players select their suspects, which must be the one closest to the player. After the suspects are selected, one player takes a suspect card, a weapon card, and a room card and puts them in a solution envelope, which is put in the center of the board. The remaining cards are then dealt clockwise to the players.

Suspects[edit]

There are 6 suspects, each of a different color. They are:

  • Miss Scarlet (red, older versions show her as Miss Scarlett)
  • Mrs. Peacock (blue)
  • Mrs. White (white)
  • Mr. Green (green, British versions show him as Rev. Green)
  • Colonel Mustard (yellow)
  • Professor Plum (purple)

Weapons[edit]

There are six weapons, which are:

  • Knife (Dagger in Britain)
  • Rope
  • Lead Pipe
  • Revolver
  • Candlestick
  • Wrench (Spanner in Britain)

The Board and The Rooms[edit]

The board is set to look like a mansion, titled "Tudor Mansion" in recent editions, or "Tudor Close" in the British versions. There are ten rooms on the board, which are:

  • Kitchen (top left)
  • Ballroom (top center)
  • Conservatory (top right)
  • Dining Room (middle left)
  • Cellar (center of board; not accessible to players (and thus not a room which can be guessed as the murder site), contains solution envelope)
  • Billiard Room (middle right adjacent to Conservatory)
  • Library (middle right adjacent to Study)
  • Lounge (bottom left)
  • Hall (bottom center)
  • Study (bottom right)

The Kitchen and Study are connected by a "secret passage", as are the Lounge and Conservatory, allowing a player to move to the opposite corner of the board.
