Constitutional patriotism

Constitutional patriotism is the idea that documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution encourage civic empowerment, and thus provides national cohesion in ways different than civic nationalism or ethnic nationalism. Constitutional patriotism is closely linked with the idea of American Exceptionalism, and Constitutional patriots typically refer to themselves as Constitutionalists.
