Copyright notice

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

A copyright notice is a mark stating when an original work was first placed into a fixed form. The Berne Convention does not require a copyright notice on works created after 1989, but copyright notices are still widely used.

A copyright notice contains three pieces of information:

  1. The symbol ©, or the word "Copyrighted", or the abbreviation "Copr."
  2. The year of first publication (including first online publication).
  3. The name of the author.

For example: "© 2002 by Jane Doe."
