David Llewellyn Wark Griffith (1875-1948), more well known as D.W. Griffith, was a film-maker, now considered to be the founding father of cinema. He is best known for his innovative films Birth of a Nation and Intolerance. Birth of a Nation was a favorable portrait of the beginning of the Ku Klux Klan, while the latter was a $2.5 million epic combining four separate stories in different time periods about Intolerance.^[1]
