An economist is a professional or specialist in the study of economics, with special knowledge of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods in an economy.

The Economist is a British weekly newspaper focusing on international politics and business news and opinion. It was established in 1843.

Famous economists were Adam Smith, Jeremy Bentham, Robert Malthus, David Ricardo, John Stuart Mill, John Maynard Keynes, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, and Paul Samuelson.
