Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, and the second largest city that province. The city was incorporated in 1904, and is located near the geographical center of the province. It was originally called Fort Edmonton, and was named after the birthplace (Edmonton in Greater London) of a Hudson's Bay Company employee.

Edmonton was declared the "Murder capital of Canada" for 2005. [1]
