Farmersville is a city in Texas, in the northeastern portion of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Previously a small rural community, its proximity to nearby Lake Lavon and overflow growth from the nearby county seat (McKinney) has led to the city growing in recent years, enough that Collin College (the community college serving the county) opened a branch campus in the city.
Famous World War I veteran Audie Murphy grew up in Farmersville. Also, Bart Barber (the pastor of First Baptist Church of Farmersville) was elected as the 64th President of the Southern Baptist Convention, making him the first SBC President in decades who wasn't associated with a megachurch at the time of his election.
