Federalist No. 25, authored by Alexander Hamilton under the pen name Publius, is the twenty fifth of 85 essays. Titled "The Same Subject Continued: The Powers Necessary to the Common Defense Further Considered", Hamilton continues the work he started in Federalist No. 24 defending the need for an army, even in time of peace. He pointed out that at the time "The territories of Britain, Spain, and of the Indian nations" are on all sides, from Maine all the way down to Georgia.

It was published on December 21, 1787.
