Flame (malware)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Flame (a.k.a. Flamer, sKyWIper, and Skywiper) is a highly sophisticated piece of malware which targeted computer systems in several countries, including Iran.[1] It is believed to have been created by the same group responsible for Stuxnet and DuQu[2]

Exploit Details[edit]

Flame is an attack toolkit which places a Trojan, on the target computer, then spreads like a worm through the local network (LAN). Kaspersky reports that Flame can "sniff" network activity, record audio, take screenshots (images of the computer's display), record keystrokes and even detect Bluetooth devices within range and retrieve information about them. If any further function is desired, the operators of Flame can upload add-on modules to the infected device, as well.[3]

History[edit]

Similar to Stuxnet, Flame seems to have been designed as an attack on Iran's nuclear project. Its peak efficiency was in the range of 2009-2010, when it first was released.[2]
