Fort Bend County is the 10th largest county in Texas, and it is one of the most diverse counties in the nation. This county is the suburban area of Houston.

Politics[edit]

Fort Bend County was once solidly Republican, and in 2016 it was a swing county. In 2020, the county was won by Joe Biden by well over double-digits,^[1] and now the county's judge, and his Commissioners Court increased tax rates.^[2] (In Texas, the Commissioners Court for each county has five members, the County Judge -- who, despite the name, doesn't handle judicial matters except in the smallest counties -- is elected county-wide while the four commissioners are elected from single-member districts. In Fort Bend County the four commissioners are evenly divided between the parties (2 are Republican, 2 are Democrat), while the County Judge is Democrat.)

Harris County's Democrat Influence[edit]

Many people from Democrat Harris County, or Houston, especially L. Sarah DeMerchant, moved to Fort Bend County just to run for office, in order to influence elections.
