Frankfort is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The population of the city was 25,527 when the 2010 US Census was taken. It is the county seat of Franklin County, and is home to Kentucky State University. It is one of the smallest state capitals in the United States. William May, a nonpartisan, is currently serving as mayor.
