Gaia

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Gaia is the goddess/personification of the Earth in Greek mythology. She bore and then married Uranus and gave birth to the race of the Titans.

Gaia in modern usage is the English word defined as a hypothesis that living and nonliving components of earth function as a single system. The term was chosen because the Greek goddess Gaia is the living earth. For a more detailed treatment, see Gaia hypothesis.
