Ganglia

Ganglia (singular: ganglion) are masses of neuron cell bodies outside of the central nervous system. Humans have many ganglia throughout the body, such as the dorsal root ganglia, which contain the neuron cell bodies of sensory nerves entering the spinal cord from the periphery. In organisms which have a nervous system but not a developed brain, a ganglion may be the highest level of neuronal organization present.
