Genesis (band)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Genesis is a famous British progressive rock band. Although less successful than their contemporaries Pink Floyd, Yes, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, they succeeded in attracting and sustaining a larger number of fans. Taking their name from the first book of the Bible, Genesis was led by vocalist Peter Gabriel for many years; drummer Phil Collins assumed vocal duties after Gabriel's departure and turned the band's sound in a more pop-oriented, and very successful, direction.

The band had been on hiatus for many years, but Collins, keyboardist Tony Banks, and bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford made a comeback tour in the summer of 2007. Originally, the classic lineup of Gabriel, guitarist Steve Hackett, Banks, Rutherford, and Collins were supposed to reform but Gabriel and Hackett declined to participate, although both are open to a later reunion.
