Gilead (גלעד in Hebrew) refers to a place of witness, testimonial, or spiritual significance.[1] The name "Gilead" may refer to two different places (areas of Judea) or to a person from the Bible.

The famous spiritual, "There is a Balm in Gilead," sings of the healing properties of the holy land, and the connection obtained there with God.
