Guy de Rothschild

Baron Guy Édouard Alphonse Paul de Rothschild (21 May 1909 – 12 June 2007 in Paris) was a French banker and a member of the Rothschild family.

Biography[edit]

Guy de Rothschild was born in Paris.He is the son of Baron Édouard de Rothschild (born in 1868, died 1949) He studied at the Lycée Condorcet and Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris.[1]

In World War II Guy's family fled to New York City during the occupation of France by the Nazis, but Rothschild joined the French Army where he was the commander of the 3rd Light Mechanised Division.

Business career[edit]

Guy de Rothschild joined Rothschild Frères in the 1930s and was also a part of the board committee of the Northern Railway Company, from 1967 till 1979 he was the president of Banque Rothschild in Paris.
