Harlan Coben (born January 4, 1962) is an American author of mystery novels. He has written seventeen books which generally begin with the loss of a significant other and involve mistaken identity with an unusual twist at the end of each book.

Eight of his novels constitute the "Myron Bolitar" series. The series involves the main character, Myron Bolitar, a fictional former FBI agent and professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics, currently working as a sports agent. The novels feature friends or clients of Myron Bolitar involved in crimes that Myron must solve to save the person. He employs the help of Windsor Lockwoode III, his college roommate and successful investor.
