Ichthus Festival

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

The Ichthus Festival is a Christian rock music festival that lasts three days. It is held every year in Wilmore, Kentucky. It takes its name from the Ichthus anagram, which means "Jesus Christ, Son Of God, Saviour" in Greek (Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ). The festival is known for featuring several popular Christian bands, such as Switchfoot, Reliant K, David Crowder Band, and Skillet.

The festival started in 1970 as a Christian response to the Woodstock festival. It continued in Wilmore until 2012 when it ceased operations due to financial difficulty. It attempted a comeback in 2015 in Lexington (a much larger city) but failed. However, in 2021 it revived, and returned to Wilmore.

During the 1978 festival, former Vice President Mike Pence became a Christian.[1]
