An impeachable offense is misconduct by a public official that justifies impeachment by the House of Representatives in order to remove him from office pursuant to the procedure of the U.S. Constitution, or similar procedure in state law. Two U.S. presidents and many more federal judges have been impeached in American history.

Charles Krauthammer has observed that Barack Obama's executive order to extend amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is an "impeachable offense."^[1]
