The Inter-Services Intelligence has been documented to be active in the United States and attempts to influence American politics.

ISI infiltration of U.S think tanks[edit]

In 2013, Ayesha Siddiqui, a political commentator and former Pakistani bureaucrat, said that a Pakistani diplomat confided to an American 6 years ago that the ISI had set up funds to infiltrate Washington D.C think tanks and "finally did it."^[1]

Anti-Indian Lobbying[edit]

Ghulam Nabi Fai[edit]

Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai, an ISI agent, has a long history of Anti-Indian lobbying in the United States. ^[2] Fai was arrested in 2011 by FBI agents for concealing the transfer of $3.5 million from the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence to fund his lobbying efforts against India, in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act. ^[3] In March 2012, Fai was sentenced to 2 years in years in prison. ^[4] However, in Novemeber 2013, Fai's sentence was shortened to 16 months and he was released. ^[5]

After lying low for a few years, Fai has resumed his interactions with members of the U.S Senate and the media and has become very active following the passage of CAA. ^[6]

Interference in the 2020 United States presidential election[edit]

An anti-voter fraud organization by the name of "True the Vote", alerted state and federal authorities after it requested a Nevada voter registration list through the website of the Nevada secretary of state. The organization received an email back with a downloadable voter file. The email was sent from an employee of "Kavtech Solutions", a Pakistani company with ties to the ISI and Pakistani military. ^[7]
