Iron Man Is a 2008 superhero film based on the Iron Man comics of the same name. It was the first film to be independently finacned and produced by Marvel Studios, as well as the first film to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and Terence Howard. Iron Man was a critical and box office success, and was followed by the 2010 sequel Iron Man 2 as well as a series of films set in the "Avengers universe". In the "Avengers" chronology, it is set between the events of Captain America: The First Avenger and Iron Man 2.
